the
shadow
of the day...

thump thump thump thump thump
Darkwind's heavy black tail rapped rhythmically against the dusty earth, sending clouds of light brown dirt into the dry air. The dark grey tom was poised in the meager shade of a leafless tree like a statue. His head swivelled silently toward FireClan territory and glowing red eyes observed, motionless, the sun's slow descent into the horizon.

As the minutes passed slowly, the sky turned from a pale blue to a brilliant pink, then to a flaring orange as the world turned away from its life-giving star. For what seemed to last an eternity, the tom sat in the darkening landscape, part of the land himself, watching the sunset.

The sky changed once more, for one swift moment, to a blood red as the sun approached its final destination. There was a flash of light and Darkwind's eyes glittered in the sun's last dying rays, red flickering to gold and black. The red faded from the sky and was replaced with a dull purple hue, and Darkwind's eyes were blood red once more.

thump.

...will embrace to world in grey
